Hello bloggers, bukan seperti biasanya saya membuat artikel tentang opensource, namun karena dukungan saya yang besar terhadap pengaplikasian opensource di Indonesia, maka saya mulai saat ini akan memulai artikel-artikel yang menarik tentang opensource. Dimulai dari yang saya bisa tentunya, hehe… Selama ini saya menggunakan sistem operasi Ubuntu di notebook saya. Ubuntu itu salah satu distro Linux berbasis Debian. Ubuntu disponsori oleh Canonical Ltd yang dimiliki oleh seorang kosmonot asal Afrika Selatan, Mark Shuttleworth. Ubuntu mempunyai arti “rasa perikemanusian terhadap sesama manusia”, makna ini diambil dari sebuah konsep ideologi di Afrika Selatan. Ubuntu dapat digunakan secara bebas.
Kenapa saya memakai Ubuntu? Dikarenakan Ubuntu adalah sistem operasi yang saya anggap paling mudah dipelajari. Tidak hanya berdasarkan menurut saya saja, tetapi juga berdasarkan data di DistroWatch.com yang menunjukkan bahwa distro Ubuntu adalah yang paling diminati dan digunakan di antara distribusi linux lainnya di seluruh dunia.
Secara rutin Ubuntu dirilis tiap 6 (enam) bulan sekali, dimulai pertama kali pada bulan Oktober 2004. Dengan dukungan yang besar baik itu dari kalangan komunitas pengguna Ubuntu di tiap negara maupun dari dukungan para ahli dan profesional, saya berkeyakinan bahwa distro ini akan selalu tumbuh dan berkembang tanpa batasan karena distribusinya yang bebas.
Ubuntu dirilis dalam 3 (tiga) edisi, yakni Ubuntu Desktop Edition, Ubuntu Server Edition, dan Ubuntu Netbook Edition. Ubuntu juga memiliki banyak versi, antara lain:
1. Edubuntu, Ubuntu untuk pendidikan;
2. Kubuntu, Ubuntu dengan KDE;
3. Lubuntu, Ubuntu dengan LXDE;
4. Xubuntu, Ubuntu dengan Xfce;
5. Sabily (Ubuntu Muslim Edition);
6. Ubuntu Christian Edition;
7. Buddhabuntu (Ubuntu Buddhist Remix); dan
8. Fluxbuntu.
Ubuntu bebas diunduh di Ubuntu.com, dan jangan lupa bloggers, kalau Anda takut mencoba Ubuntu (atau distro linux lainnya) hanya karena takut tak bisa mengoperasikannya. Ingatlah dahulu sebelum Anda memakai sistem operasi berbayar yang sekarang kalian pakai, dulu juga Anda tak langsung bisa memakainya kan? Semua butuh tahap pembelajaran jika kita ingin bisa, yang penting adalah niat yang kuat untuk bisa. Saya bisa, kenapa Anda tidak? Selamat mencoba! 🙂

If you are at the command line you could begin a program by running it in the background, so you can do other things during it’s execution. If a program that is running, but which is not in the background, is stuck your first step should be to try CTRL-Z, to terminate it.thanks

Saya adalah pengagum dari linux ubuntu cuman saya belum menjadi pemakai. Tetapi sya sudah mencobanya. Memang ubuntu terbatas di peripheral misal driver printer kadang sulit mencari drivernya. Mudah-mudahan kedepan semakin lengkap di peripheralnya
